Why Information Management?
Shortly after my school-leaving-exam it was pretty clear to me that I wanted to study either business sciences or
information management. As a result of my interests and my education at the
HTL for data processing and organisation I grew up
with a strong IT-centered background. Since I wanted to enhance this background by a business-orientated component, I opted
for a degree in business sciences.
However, after the first couple of semesters I decided that I did not want to miss a continuative IT-education. In my opinion
information has always been a potential factor of economic success. Therefore I wanted to keep in touch with what was going on
"behind the scenes" when it comes up to the analysis and interpretation of data and its transformation into information and
knowledge. Nevertheless, one of the most important reasons to pick up the studies of information management was, that to me,
this subject constitutes a combination of "structure" and "creativity". In my opinion the main challenge
concerning information management is the development and implementation of creative, yet structured solutions in an
economical and entrepreneurial context.
